Ask any coach if they’d rather have one great player or a rotation of really good players and you’ll probably hear the latter. That is the case for PCM boys basketball coach Fred Lorensen.

After losing his top two scorers from a year ago, plenty of production had to be filled. Leading the way in scoring, steals, and assists is senior Andrew Mitchell. He has 149 points in just nine games. Cason Vande Lune is second in scoring with 83 points despite missing two games and five starts.

Head Coach Fred Lorensen details what his roster full of solid players brings to the floor every night.

“The one thing nice about our team this year is you never know who our leading scorers are going to be. It’s going to be a different thing every night. We’ve got five or six kids that can really score the ball. It’s just going to be different people. It’s just up and down the line with those kids. I think we have six or seven kids that can really play and I like the kids we have behind them too. It’s just hard for them to get in because of the ones that are in front of them.”

Check back tomorrow for a rundown of the boy’s statistics approaching the halfway point of the season, as well as the girls team on Friday.
