A Pella football standout locked in his choice of college to continue competing.
Kody Huisman recently signed his National Letter of Intent to join Division I FCS Powerhouse North Dakota State. Huisman first committed to the Bison program in May, a school that has won eight of the last nine NCAA Subdivision National Championships.
“They’ve been recruiting me very hard, and it’s been a great experience for me personally–I love their campus and coaching staff, they’re really involved with their players, and it just seems like it’s going to be a great fit for me, and I can’t wait to be repping the green and gold.”
For the second consecutive season, Kody Huisman was a Class 3A honoree on the defensive line for the Pella Dutch. Huisman earned first-team honors in 2019 and second-team recognition this past fall from the Iowa Print Sportswriters Association, racking up 10 tackles for loss and three sacks, and recovering two fumbles, including one for a touchdown, leading the Dutch to a Class 3A District 7 championship and 14th consecutive state playoff appearance.
Huisman is looking to return to the state wrestling meet this winter after qualifying in his first ever year competing in the sport this past February, and returning to the famous Blue Oval at Drake Stadium this coming spring as one of Class 3A’s top discus throwers.
