The first Knoxville Snow Ordinance of the season was put into effect for this week’s winter storm. In total, 20 citations were issued for being parked on city streets, and no vehicles had to be towed. Arlene Worrall with the Knoxville Police Department tells KNIA/KRLS News those figures were “surprisingly low” for the first snow ordinance of the year, and partially attributes that figure to the timing of the snowfall, as it was mostly a daytime event.

Worrall also reminds residents that they have 24 hours after the end of the snowfall to clear their portions of public sidewalks to avoid citations and fees.
