In the second snow emergency of the winter season, the Pella Police Department reported significant improvement despite the amount of snow crews had to clear in the community. The department issued 8 snow emergency parking tickets, covered one accident, and assisted 8 motorists, which they report is very low for a snow event of this size–most of the region reported 6-10 inches of snowfall Tuesday. The City of Pella issued 60 violation citations during the first snow emergency issued of the winter on December 12th. As part of the city’s snow ordinance, residents are reminded to clear any sidewalks adjacent to their property and to never move snow onto city streets and alleys. Area fire departments also ask residents to clear any hydrants in their area to help in case of emergency.
