The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams end their holiday break today with an out-of-conference clash against Lewis Central on their home court. The #14 in class 5A Indians girls put their six-game winning streak on the line against a Titans squad that has only dropped a game to state title contender Glenwood on the season, and shoot an astounding 37% from long range. Indians head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports this will be the time to showcase how hard they’ve worked over break.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what our next step is. How much better can we be with helpside, how much better can we be with rebounding, getting our offense to be more fluid, and getting from one set to the next set. So there is room for improvement, but to be 6-1 heading into break I’m happy with that and I’m real proud of our team for that.”
The Indians boys will try to get their record above .500 for the first time since an opening contest win, and will have to compete against a hungry Titans squad that has lost four in a row. Hear the action live this afternoon on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 3:15pm.
