
The weather averages for 2020 were near normal for temperature and below average for precipitation, according to climate data from the National Weather Service.
The average temperature over the past year was 50.4 degrees, near the 30 year normal of 50.1. In total, 33.85 inches of precipitation fell in Marion County, which was just over four inches below the typical average. According to State Climatologist Justin Glisan, most of Iowa was in a drought during the summer and fall, until relief came mainly for the eastern half of the state.
