While snow covers the ground and the holidays have come and gone, those in Pella will soon be gearing up for the community’s favorite time of the year.
Pella Community Services Director Jeanette Vaughan says city staff was hard at work before winter to prepare for spring and the annual blooming of tulips. She says the parks department has planned several features yet again for the upcoming season.
Vaughan says between the City of Pella, Pella Historical Society, local organizations, residents, more than 300,000 bulbs are planted in October and November for blooms starting in April.
