The Pella Police Department awarded Brian Steenhoek with the Citizen’s Commendation Award. In early December, Brian intervened in an incident involving an individual who was having a medical emergency and who became violent towards others. Prior to officers arrival, Steenhoek stopped the individual from assaulting another man and held him until officers arrived, and then continued to assist police as they struggled with the individual. Chief Shane McSheehy, Capt. Paul Haase, and Lt. Shane Cox were able to present Brian with the award and a department challenge coin.
