The Indianola City Council received a presentation from the Des Moines Metropolitan Planning Organization regarding the participation in developing an Economic Development District in central Iowa at their meeting Monday. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the Economic Development District affords areas to receive federal funding for various improvement projects, and the central region is the only region in Iowa to not be in one. Waller said the decision to join will go to the Warren County Board of Supervisors; however the council gave direction to city staff to support joining the district if it is formed, and will continue to work with the Des Moines Area MPO in the planning process.
