Over the past year, Helping Hands Knoxville has served numerous families in need of assistance. Chuck Galaezzi tells KNIA/KRLS News that donations from the community allowed the organization to purchase a great deal of food from the Food Bank of Iowa.
“In 2020, we spent $17,116.17 at the Food Bank of Iowa. Each of those dollars buys seven pounds of food. So we were able to buy 122,265 pounds of food. That’s a tremendous amount of food to share with the people of Knoxville.”
On average, the organization served 275 families per month in 2020. Galaezzi also thanks the community for its collective effort during the holiday season, during which a large portion of the donations were collected.
