Lyle Vander Meiden is Pella Regional’s 2020 Hospice Volunteer of the Year.

“Lyle is always willing to help whenever we call,” said Beth Loux, volunteer coordinator at Hospice of Pella. He delivers equipment, supplies or medications to our patients. He serves at the Comfort House, helps with events and is the unofficial caretaker of our van. He goes the extra mile! It’s not just the tasks he helps with, but the way he goes about it. He’s a good listener, encourager and kindhearted man. We’re blessed to have him on our team!”

Volunteers provide companionship for patients and relief for caregivers by letting them take a break from the bedside. They help with transportation needs, including errands and rides to and from appointments. Each volunteer chooses which tasks they are comfortable doing and the times that they are able to help.
