A recently retired Pella Police Reserve Officer was honored at a ceremony held by the department this week following more than three decades of service.

Reserve Officer Glenn Matherly announced his retirement in October 2020. Matherly has put in thousands of volunteer hours over the years, including coverage at Tulip Time, Pella High School and Central football games, house moves or covering patrol.

Matherly says serving as a reserve officer was a rewarding experience, even as the role evolved with the PD’s growth over the years.
