After Friday’s games at Indianola were postponed, the Norwalk basketball teams return to action for the first time in nearly a week tonight when the Warriors play host to Carlisle in an all-Warren County matchup. Both Norwalk teams will look to use tonight to bounce back from their first losses of the calendar year last Tuesday.
The Carlisle girls have stumbled out to a 1-9 start to the season, and have been blown out in their last four games. Norwalk just had a four-game win streak snapped, but senior Bren Moritz says this team is resilient, and will be able to bounce back.
A win puts Norwalk back at .500 as they enter with an overall record of 5-6. The Wildcats have won five straight in this series, but are on track for one of their worst seasons in recent memory.
It’ll be a similar story in the boys game, as the Carlisle boys have an identical 1-9 record. Norwalk’s four-game win streak was just snapped by Dallas Center-Grimes, and they’ll look for yet another win against an opponent they haven’t lost to in the last decade. Carlisle will look to build upon a one-point loss to Boone their last time out, but have lost games by an average margin of just over 20 points this season.
Tonight’s doubleheader will air on 94.3 KNIA with Jon Mohwinkle and Steve Wermerskirchen calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:00, with the opening tipoff from Norwalk High School at 6:15.
