The Norwalk basketball teams picked up two wins Monday evening, as the Warriors played host to Carlisle in the WarCat series. The Norwalk girls pulled away for a 52-37 win, while a dominant second half led the Warrior boys to a 56-20 victory, as aired on 94.3 KNIA.

The first half of the girls game was largely a back and forth battle. Norwalk took a 21-20 lead into halftime, but was able to make the proper adjustments to outscore the Wildcats 19-6 in the third quarter, which proved to be enough to seal the game. Head Coach Jill Martin says it was a quality bounce back win with not a lot of preparation.

Four players scored in double figures for the Warriors, led by 13 points from Bren Moritz. Jocelyn Bice scored 12, Jayden Lammers had a season-high 11, and Ava Johnson added 10. Norwalk improves to 6-6 overall, and returns to Little Hawkeye Conference action Friday at Pella Christian.

The boys game was mostly the same story. The teams were tied at 14 after the first quarter, but Norwalk built up a 27-18 lead after a low-scoring first half. The Wildcats were held to just two points in the entire second half, as the Warriors cruised while getting several bench players in the game relatively early. Evan Borst led the way with 15 points in a resilient effort off the bench. Norwalk improves to 7-3 overall, and returns to conference action tonight against Grinnell in a makeup game. Pregame coverage begins at 7:15 p.m. on 94.3 KNIA.
