Melcher-Dallas split a Bluegrass Conference Doubleheader Tuesday night with Mormon Trail. The girls came out on top, 41-40, but the boys dropped their fifth game out of seven, losing 61-41.
Melcher-Dallas’ girls won their fifth out of six games thanks to a game-winning free throw by Riley Enfield with .5 left on the clock. Kynser Reed led the way for Melcher-Dallas, as she scored 14 points and hauled down six rebounds. The win improves the Saints’ record to 5-3.
Melcher-Dallas’ boys’ offensive struggles continue as they barely cracked the 40-point mark in the loss. After having a double-double Monday night against Lamoni, Lane VanderLinden failed to top double digits, finishing with just nine points. Steven Krpan led the way for Melcher-Dallas, scoring ten. The loss drops the Saints to 2-5 on the season.
Melcher-Dallas will be back in action for another Bluegrass Conference Doubleheader Friday at Moravia. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
