The PCM Mustangs got their first sweep of the season Tuesday at home against Saydel. The Mustang girls got just their second win of the season 55-22 and the boys won 65-19, as heard on the KRLS3 stream on their senior night.
The PCM girls were dominant from start to finish, and so much so that they pushed the Eagles to a continuous clock in the fourth quarter. Lilli Baird led the way with 16 points and Riley Hjortshoj added another 10.
Head Coach Jeff Lindsay says that a lot of hard work finally paid off as the girls finally got another win, and it being on senior night makes it even sweeter.
“It’s really gratifying. I feel grateful that the girls were able to get a win on senior night. As hard as they’ve been working, it was going to happen here this season where we were going to get one of these nights where we were going to get our shots to fall and we were going to put two halves of basketball together. It seems that we’ve only been able to put one half of basketball together, but to the girls’ credit they kept their heads up. They’ve been working hard.”
The Mustangs boys game also went to a continuous clock, but with five minutes left in the third quarter. At that point, PCM Head Coach Fred Lorensen cleared his bench and everyone got the chance to play. Carson Vande Lune led the way with 15 points. Senior Gabe Lanphier, who sees little playing time, got nine to cap off senior night.
The Mustangs will be back in action at home for a double header against Nevada on Friday starting at 6:30.
