The Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars basketball teams now know where they will be placed in the Bluegrass Conference tournament that begins this Saturday.

The Saints girls, who have a 5-3 record, will have a first-round bye and will play either Seymour or Diagonal Tuesday at 7:30 PM at home. Melcher-Dallas is one of two teams in their bracket to get a first-round bye; the other team is Murray, who they swept.

The Sabers girls are the 5th seed and will play 4th seeded Moravia in the first round at Melcher-Dallas on January 25th starting at 6:00. On December 15th, Twin Cedars lost to the Mohawks 30-28.

Melcher-Dallas’ boys, who stand at 2-5 on the season, will have a first-round game at home Saturday night against Moulton-Udell. If Melcher-Dallas wins, this will travel to Moravia High School to take on Lamoni, who they beat Monday.

The Sabers boys are seeded 9th and will face unseeded Diagonal on the road on January 23rd starting at 7:30. Twin Cedars fell to the Maroons on Monday 48-40.

The Saints will have one more doubleheader before the tournament begins, which is a Bluegrass Conference matchup with Moravia Friday. The doubleheader will begin with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
