Before the Bluegrass Conference Tournament begins, Melcher-Dallas will have a conference doubleheader at Moravia tonight.
The Saints’ girls, after getting off to a rough start, have won five of their last six games, including a thriller against Mormon Trail Tuesday. Melcher-Dallas will look to get another win before they begin tournament play. Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports that her team needs to continue to rebound effectively to get the win.
“Continuing to rebound. I know they have a couple of post players that are aggressive on the boards. They could kind of push us around. Just not letting them not do that to us and continuing to rebound like we have been doing all season. It has been phenomenal watching Kynser Reed, Grace Overgaard, Hailey Hoch, even Riley Enfield, down there battling for those boards, defensive and offensive. Just continuing to do that.”
Melcher-Dallas’ boys will look to get back to winning, as they currently have a 2-5 record after dropping to Mormon Trail Tuesday night. This will be a test of fatigue for the Saints, as they have back-to-back days with games. Coach Jim Wells tells KNIA Sports that they need to shut down Carson Brown in order to win.
“Well, they have one great leader on that team. They are 11-3, but there is Carson Brown, who leads the team in rebounds, steals, and assists while averaging 24 points per game. So we have to shut them down if that is possible.”
The doubleheader will begin at Moravia with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
