If the US Census results for the City of Indianola show an increase in the population of the city as expected, there may be new procedures and policies the city will have to comply with. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News state law requires certain policies put in place once a city reaches a certain threshold.

“We believe that we will hit the 15,000 population threshold. Per state law, once you hit that you are required to implement a rental inspection program. It is something we are planning for as there are some staffing and expenses along with that, so we have to implement that into the budget.”

Waller also said home building in Indianola has significantly risen over the past four years, and will continue to be a priority for city staff.
