Knoxville Panthers Coaches vs. Cancer is today. Typically, several events would take place throughout the day, such as alumni games and an auction. While those have been cancelled, Jim Uitermarkt says there’s still excitement and the cause remains just as worthy.
“Even with all the changes, it’s going to be a great day. The kids are excited, we’re still going to raise a lot of money for the American Cancer Society. We just want to do what we can every year, and it’s the same this year. Things are a little different, but we’re going to do everything we can to make this the best event possible.”
Monetary donations and the online auction will remain open through the end of the day today. The Knoxville basketball teams host Chariton beginning at 6:15 p.m., with the games airing on 95.3 KNIA. The annual ceremony recognizing survivors and cancer run participants will take place between varsity games. KNIA/KRLS will provide on-air updates throughout the day.
