A major winter storm will impact south central Iowa today. A winter storm warning is in effect for almost the entire southern half of the state, mainly along and south of Interstate 80, continuing until 6 a.m. Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, between 8 to 12 inches snow will be accompanied by brisk winds, causing blowing and drifting, which will produce low visibilities in open areas. The evening commute on Monday will be greatly impacted, as any travel may need to be postponed or rescheduled during that time.
