State Representative Brooke Boden has put a focus on mental health during her first term in the Iowa Legislature, and is helping to build Iowa’s infrastructure on the Human Resources Committee. Boden tells KNIA News mental health isn’t an issue that can be solved over one session or one year, or have a lot of tangible, noticeable effects, but you look for the improvements where you can.

I take the good with the bad, and I’m looking at things like we are having tele-health conversations that maybe we weren’t before. Mental health professionals are able to reach out and people are able to talk to their provider, maybe you are in the middle of a mental health crisis and can’t get out of bed for the day, well now you can. So I always try to take every aspect of the baby steps we are working on to move forward and making sure we are doing what’s best for Iowa.”
