This week’s winter storm is dumping some of the highest snow totals south central Iowa has seen this season. Knoxville Police Department Community Service Officer Meredith Clark reminds residents of a few basic guidelines, which are especially important during such heavy snow.

“Some important things to keep in mind, the city ordinance states that snow is to be removed from your sidewalks within 24 hours after the end of the snowfall. Also, you cannot push or throw snow onto the property of another person, and you can’t pile it higher than 24 inches, or within 50 feet of an intersection.”

The Knoxville Snow Ordinance goes into effect whenever one or more inches of snow is expected. Clark was hired by the Knoxville Police Department earlier this month, replacing Arlene Worrall, who is now Administrative Assistant following Therese Augustin’s retirement.
