A winter storm brought a round of heavy snow to the region, restricting travel and halting classes Monday and Tuesday. In total, most in south central Iowa received between 6-10” of snow, with more recorded near the Des Moines Metro and other locations mainly in southwest Iowa. Tow bans were in place throughout central Iowa, and travel was not advised on many state highways Tuesday morning due to low visibility and poor road conditions. The coldest night of the winter thus far is expected as thermometers will approach and possibly drop below zero Thursday morning for the first time in the 2020-21 season, but a rapid warmup is expected back into the 30s for daytime highs by Friday and over the weekend.
