
Five veterans were awarded a Quilt of Valor Wednesday in a ceremony at Windsor Ridge Apartments in Knoxville. Marcia Grimm is a volunteer with the Quilts of Valor organization, and explains that these quilts are given in honor of veterans and their service.
“It’s a formal expression of appreciation to the veterans. After what they’ve gone through and been through, a lot of people just kind of forget it. It brings their memory to the forefront again, and shows our appreciation as a society for their service. They set time aside to serve our country, so we’re appreciative of that.”
Each recipient was given a large quilt and a certificate of appreciation. All veterans are eligible to receive a Quilt of Valor. View the recipients below:
