indianola-3

The Indianola basketball squads continue Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight on the road at Dallas Center-Grimes. The Indians girls are just a half-game ahead of the Mustangs at the top of the conference standings, but handed DCG their only conference loss of the season in a 50-45 win in December, with DCG not losing since that contest. The Indians boys will try to recover from a three-game losing streak, and have to jump over the 52-42 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs in their previous matchup. Indians head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports his team is going through a shooting slump right now, which is hurting their other areas of play.

“Making open shots is a slippery slope to recover from. We like the shots that we are getting, but we have to put the ball through the hoop. We aren’t doing it consistently and it’s making everything else get magnified so when we do make a mistake we can’t make up for it because we aren’t scoring, so then its that snowball effect and we are in trouble.”

The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15.
