It’s now seven wins in their last eight games for the Pella Christian boys basketball team after an 87-65 win over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont heard live last night on 92.1 KRLS.

The Rockets were charged with a pregame technical foul, and P.C.’s Levi Schelhaas hit one of two free throws with no time off the clock.  From there, the Eagles never trailed, bolting out to a 26-11 lead after the first quarter and 42-25 at halftime.

While E-B-F closed within five in the third quarter, they never got closer than that, and J.D. Boer’s club picked up its fourth straight victory.

“I thought we scored the ball really well.  I mean, we scored 87 points, so I’m pleased with that.  We shot the ball well at times and eventually started working the ball inside.  We were consistent offensively, so that was good to see.”

Schelhaas led four Eagles in double figures with 19 points.  Eric Mulder had a 15-point 11-rebound double-double, and Jaedon Huisman and Bennett Spronk scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Pella Christian improves to 9-7 on the season.  They’ll join the girls for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader tonight against Grinnell.  It’s homecoming on Eagle Lane, and you can hear the twinbill live on the KRLS2 stream at www.kniakrls.com, beginning with pregame at 6:00 and the opening tip of the girls game at 6:15.  Trevor Castle and Wynne Veenstra have the call.
