The Pella boys basketball team kept their perfect conference record intact with a 54-39 win over Grinnell on the road Thursday, heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

After their original matchup was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns in the Tigers’ program, Pella pulled away from the home team halfway through the 1st quarter and never trailed following that point, completing their first turn through the other seven teams in the league without a loss.

Despite going cold in the 3rd quarter and losing most of their 14-point halftime advantage, the Dutch defense locked down in the fourth, holding Grinnell to two points in the final eight minutes.

Noah Allen paced a balanced Pella scoring attack with 14 points, and Grant Nelson scored eight and grabbed 12 rebounds. Pella is 12-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference, and they’ll rejoin the girls tonight for a doubleheader against Newton. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS. Pella’s girls are 7-7 overall and 3-5 in the league, and knocked off the Cardinals 62-24 on December 18th, which was a Dutch sweep in Newton, with the boys winning 73-35 that night as well.
