pleasantville-3

Pleasantville’s wrestling swept their final triangular of their season at home, knocking off Lynnville-Sully and Panorama Thursday, while their basketball teams will have a West Central Conference doubleheader at Madrid tonight.

The Trojans wrestlers got victories by scores of 54-27 over Lynnville-Sully and 54-30 over Panorama. Pleasantville got a total of eight wins by fall, including two from Jacob Hiemstra and Dillen Ammons at 152 and 170 lbs, respectively. The Trojans also got wins by fall from Kitt Lundy at 132 lbs, Isaac Mann at 182 lbs, Alex Swanson at 195 lbs, and Matthew Kauffman at heavyweight. Kauffman tells KNIA Sports that he is impressed with his overall performance this season after coming back from injury.

“I had to make up two weeks and work out of the hole, which can be hard to do in wrestling. Other than that, winning the solo matches and doing the little things are all you need to do.”

Pleasantville will have one more quad at the end of the regular season, which will be Tuesday at Carlisle High School as they compete against the host, Mount St. Mary’s, and Knoxville. Action will start at 5:30 PM.

The Trojans’ girls will look to inch their record closer to .500 against the Tigers in basketball action. Pleasantville is coming off back-to-back losses to Earlham and No. 2 in Class 3A Des Moines Christian. A victory would be Pleasantville’s fourth West Central Conference win of the season. Malorie McKinney will look to get as healthy as possible as she continues to battle an ankle injury.

Pleasantville’s boys are aiming to get back to winning ways, as they have lost seven of their last eight games, including three straight against Interstate-35, Earlham, and No. 3 in Class 2A Des Moines Christian. The brightest spot for Pleasantville over these last few games is Mason Scheve, who has put up 20 or more points in three of the last four games, including a career-high 35 in their last game against Des Moines Christian.

The doubleheader is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 PM at Madrid High School. The doubleheader will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch on the call.
