Melcher-Dallas’ basketball teams came out on the wrong side of their final tournament games Saturday as the boys lost their third-place game to Mormon Trail 65-48, while the girls lost the tournament championship game to Moravia 41-25.
The Saints’ boys lost their second game of the season to Mormon Trail, and it was due to another cold-shooting night. Lane VanderLinden led the way in scoring with 16 points while Ryan Krpan was a close second with 15. Melcher-Dallas finishes fourth in the Bluegrass Conference tournament.
The Saints’ girls struggled to get anything going offensively, as their shots just could not fall. Grace Overgaard led the way with eight points and seven rebounds. Melcher-Dallas finishes second in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.
After impressive tournament runs, Melcher-Dallas will start a stretch on Monday of six consecutive days with a game. The first matchup will be a non-conference doubleheader at Tri-County. The doubleheader will begin with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
