The Knoxville boys basketball team continued what is now a four game winning streak after defeating Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 71-60 on Saturday.
It was a 23 point fourth quarter for the road team that was the difference after the Panthers and Rockets were tied following three periods.
The Panthers boys improve to 9-4 overall and 8-1 in the South Central Conference; they welcome Grinnell to Knoxville High School Monday evening at 7:45 p.m. for a non-conference contest.
Knoxville’s girls are fresh off of their fourth straight win–a 43-37 victory over Centerville, that has them back in a tie for first place in the league standings. They hit the road to Clarke to stay on track to keep their conference title hopes intact for a girls’ only varsity matchup.
Panthers Head Coach Jim Uitermarkt acknowledges the contest kicks off what could be a grueling week of competition, with four games on the docket in five days, but understands if they want to secure at least a share of the conference title, they need to be focused on what is immediately in front of them.
Pregame coverage begins at 7:15 p.m. on 95.3 KNIA, with Derek Cardwell returning to the headset.
