Melcher-Dallas split a Bluegrass Conference doubleheader with Diagonal Tuesday night as the boys won, 57-20, but the girls lost 48-33.
The Saints’ boys have now won back-to-back games after finishing fourth in the conference tournament. Melcher-Dallas had three players hit double figures as Ryan Krpan, Lane VanderLinden and Pierce Chiabotta each had ten points or more. Krpan and VanderLinden each had 13, while Chiabotta had ten. VanderLinden tells KNIA Sports that fresh legs will be important as the season starts to wind down.
“I think it will be pretty important. Since we are playing more games, our legs have gotten into better and tremendous shape, but this week will be the test of how good shape our legs are really in.”
Hear the full interview from VanderLinden on the Radio Sports Page, which airs tonight at 6:00 PM and Thursday at 10:00 AM on KNIA/KRLS.
The Saints’ girls, who played their second consecutive game without four starters, dropped their third straight game to fall to 8-6. Kynser Reed had a double-double in the loss, as she had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Grace Overgaard, Hailey Godfrey, and Kacey and Riley Enfield will be out until districts begin February 11th. Hailey Hoch was out due to a knee injury.
Melcher-Dallas will play their third game in as many days as they make a trip to Moulton-Udell for another Bluegrass Conference Doubleheader. The doubleheader begins with the girls game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
