The Pella basketball teams were swept by Dallas Center-Grimes on the road in the final conference Friday of the winter, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
Neither Dutch team found their footing despite first half leads, with the girls falling to No. 3 in 4A DCG 49-33, while the No. 2 in 3A Pella boys fell to the No. 7 Mustangs 80-65.
Turnovers were a problem for the road teams in green in both contests — the Pella boys finished with 16, and with DCG shooting 59% from the floor, the extra chances proved costly, while the girls started the game with four in the first five possessions and couldn’t overcome a total of 17 overall.
Pella falls to 15-2 overall and 11-1 in the conference, while the Lady Dutch are 10-8 and 6-6 in league play. Pella’s girls are on the road to Ames today at 2:30 p.m. for a non-conference game, while both teams return home for a conference tilt on Tuesday against Grinnell.
