twin-cedars-melcher-dallas-showdown-rivalry

The Sabers and Saints girls got together for the only time this season in Bussey, and it was all Twin Cedars the home team took the win 50-28, and have now won 18 of the last 30 matchups between the two programs.

The Sabers were led by Cheyanne Bruns’ 19 points, 12 of which came from downtown. Brooke Roby filled the scorebook following a 16 point, seven rebound, five assist, and five steal night. Kynser Reed led Melcher-Dallas with 12 points.

Twin Cedars Head Coach Trent Verwers says that this rivalry is something that always has its moments.

“You’re friends until it’s game time. It’s something you take pride in and you can’t really explain until you’re a part of it. There wasn’t too much of that on the basketball court tonight. The girls are actually friends with each other. When it comes to tipoff, it’s go time. You get a few dirty looks here and there, but you like to coach that kind of stuff. I wish when I was playing we had something special like that.”

The Sabers girls will be back in action today at Lamoni starting at 4 pm. Melcher-Dallas will play in a doubleheader today at Seymour starting at 2 pm.
