Five PCM wrestlers and four from Knoxville have made it to the class 2A district meet next Saturday. The Panthers all qualified as runners-up with Marco Alejo at 113 pounds, Daniel Gorskikh at 126 pounds, Luke Spaur at 132 pounds, and Gavin Montalvo at 182 pounds. PCM had two runners-up and three champions on Saturday as Landon Fenton at 145 pounds, Colby Tool and 152 pounds, and Cooper Sloan at 220 pounds all qualified at Sectional champions and Remington Fry at 106 pounds and Kinser Sloan at 285 pounds both qualified runner-up. Knoxville Coach Doug Hatch was happy with the day overall knowing it could have been better.

Hatch:
“We knew coming in we had to be ready to roll today. When you leave a kid or two home you always think what could have been, but those four getting through and the way they battled was good.”

Meanwhile, PCM Coach Jeff Nicholson was happy with advancing five to the regionals.

Nicholson:
“It wasn’t a bad day, I wanted to get another couple through I thought it was a long shot to get seven, but overall we wrestled pretty hard today.”

Knoxville finished 5th as a team with 147.5 points, while PCM was just ahead in 4th with 162. Bondurant-Farrar and Ballard were the top two teams and both qualified for the regional duals on Tuesday. Individual wrestlers that advanced will head to ADM for the class 2-A District on Saturday.
