The Indianola basketball squads continue Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight hosting the Cardinals of Newton on their home floor in a doubleheader. The Indians girls remain a half-game back in the Little Hawkeye Conference standings to Dallas Center-Grimes, and will have to hold serve against a Newton team that has caused them fits in the past despite a 73-52 scoreline in their win in early January.

The Indians boys are ramping up as they head towards the postseason, winners of four in a row by an average of over 26 points, including an upset of Dallas Center-Grimes. Head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports the Indians won’t overlook the Cardinals despite the result from earlier in the season where the Indians won 65-37.

“We have two tough games this week. Like I’ve said, winning in the Little Hawkeye Conference is always very difficult. We have to keep getting better on both ends of the floor, and start getting ready for February and playoff basketball.”

The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15.
