With the recent population growth in the City of Indianola, the Indianola Fire Department is working to not only integrate an influx of staff, but to keep training for the firefighters and EMTs as up to date as possible. Captain Aaron Hurt with the Indianola Fire Department tells KNIA News the department has seen an exponential increase in calls, but he is provided the resources to help give out the best information possible to help them with their jobs.

“The difference with this job is there is never an absolute way of doing things, it’s a very dynamic situation we operate under. Whether it’s an EMS or fire call, you can’t follow a specific set of actions. So the department puts in place guidelines, then it’s up to me to make sure the firefighter or EMS is using the best, most recent information and skill sets and make sure they are applying that with the guidelines to achieve the greatest outcome.”

Hurt was featured on a recent In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard. To listen to the full interview, click below.
