This year’s Knoxville Panthers Coaches vs. Cancer totaled $50,600 in donations. Organizer Jim Uitermarkt says that while this wasn’t a record turnout, it was remarkable because of the circumstances of the past year.
“This number this year is maybe the most incredible one we’ve had. I know we’ve been up in the 80’s, but those years had some really special things going on that added to the total. This year it was the cancer run, t-shirt sales, cash donations, and the online auction. That’s it, and it totaled over $50,000, and that’s incredible. Thank you so much to the caring people in Knoxville wanting to show support for those battling cancer. What we’re doing is important, and we want to keep doing it.”
The total was announced at this past Friday’s Knoxville basketball games, and was the culmination of months of donations from the public in a variety of ways.
