After temperatures peak near or above 10 degrees today across the region, more cold and chances for light snow continue over the next several days, with dangerous, arctic air looming. According to the National Weather Service, travel may be slick at times through Saturday as trace amounts up to an inch of snow could fall daily, as temperatures gradually cool down. Dangerous wind chills return Saturday morning, and could drop as low as 30 below zero on Sunday and Monday mornings as the actual air temperature approaches 15 below. Hypothermia and frostbite could occur in as little as 15 minutes in those conditions without proper precautions. No significant warm up is in the forecast as below average temperatures are in the long term forecast, but less dangerous wind chills are expected by Tuesday of next week.
