The Twin Cedars girls basketball team has had a whirlwind of ups and downs over the last few weeks. Whether it’s the weather canceling games or COVID-19 protocols getting in the way, it seemed to be a dead time as the Sabers regular season came to a close.
Thankfully, Twin Cedars was able to get another game in before they prepare for the postseason. That was Monday as they hosted Diagonal, the third matchup between the teams this season. Head Coach Trent Verwers says that he received dozens of nos when wanting to add an extra game, but was thankful that the Maroons were willing to make the nearly two-and-a-half hour drive to Bussey.
That game ended with the Sabers’ Brooke Roby stealing an inbound pass and scoring the winning basket with just five seconds left. A nice way to close the regular season.
Twin Cedars will open their postseason at Wayne on Thursday at 7 pm.
