In addition to the $1,200 and $600 stimulus checks sent earlier in the year, the United States Congress is working on another round of stimulus checks, currently expected to be at $1,400. Congresswoman Cindy Axne tells KNIA News one of the most effective ways to help local businesses stay afloat during the pandemic has been putting the money in the hands of local residents to spend in their own communities. Axne also said something she is pushing for is making sure younger people will receive checks, even if they are currently a dependent.

“That would include children 17 years of age and up that are dependent on their parents’ taxes, we’ve got to make sure those young people have got money in their pocket.”
