indianola-3

The Indianola basketball teams will look to salvage a season split against Warren County rival Norwalk tonight, after both teams fell against the Warriors in the doubleheader earlier this season in Little Hawkeye Conference action.

The #15 in class 5A Indianola girls squad are on a three-game winning streak, and will look to correct their late game decision making since the Norwalk contest, where the Warriors outscored Indianola 24-10 in the final frame to earn a six-point win.

The Indians boys have not dropped a contest since a January 26th matchup against Pella Christian, averaging a winning margin of nearly 30 points in the streak. Head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports getting points from secondary scorers is starting to unlock his team’s potential.

“When we don’t have to rely solely on Drew (Kingery) and Caden (Rehmeier) we are a much better team. Our guys are getting confidence in their shots after what I guess we would call a cold spell earlier this season. It makes the rest of our game go so much better when we can get that flexibility on the offensive end.”

The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Jon Mohwinkle on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15.
