The Norwalk basketball teams will host their final doubleheader this evening, as Warren County rival Indianola makes the visit for a pair of conference finales.

In the girls game, the Warriors will go for the season sweep of the Indians after picking up a 50-44 upset win on the road in January. If that happens, it will be a first for Norwalk, as Indianola had won every game between the programs since they joined the Little Hawkeye Conference. Norwalk will also be in search of a bounce back win, as they’ve now lost consecutive games for the first time since December. Indianola is ranked #14 in Class 5A, and has won three straight.

Meanwhile in the boys game, Norwalk will go for its sixth straight win in the series. The Warriors came from behind in a low-scoring 46-42 road win over the Indians in January. Norwalk will need to overcome a bit of a slump, having gone 2-2 in the last two weeks, while Indianola has rattled off five wins in a row. Head Coach Chris Larson says his team will need to overcome some challenges if they are to get back in the win column tonight.

Both teams are even at 8-5 in conference play, and the winner finishes in sole possession of third place in the conference standings.

Jon Mohwinkle and Andrew Swadner will broadcast the action tonight on 94.3 KNIA. Pregame coverage begins at 6:00 p.m., with the opening tipoff from Norwalk High School scheduled for 6:15.
