The financial state of the Pella School District remains fairly strong, despite the additional expenses of COVID-19. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says federal funding, as well as a likely state aid increase of more than 2 percent, should help the school board plan for the next fiscal year, even though enrollment was down this past fall and with the additional expenses due to the virus. He’s hopeful a rebound of enrollment next fall, the potential for additional funding from the state and U.S. congress, and a drop of expenses won’t impact the overall financial picture long term. The Pella School Board will address the 2021-22 budget at meetings through March.
