The Tulip City high school basketball teams held a friendly competition ahead of their final clash of the winter season last week.

Non-perishable food donations were accepted to support the Backpack Program of Pella, and athletes from both Pella and Pella Christian High School dropped off their collection on Saturday.

The Backpack Program of Pella is provided by the Pella Community Food Shelf and Faith Christian Reformed Church, and supports children attending the Pella and Pella Christian elementary schools who may not have enough to eat on weekends.
