At Monday’s Knoxville City Council meeting, the council approved Fiscal Year 2021/2022 Maximum Property Tax Dollars. Interim City Manager Heather Ussery says that while city revenue will slightly increase, property taxes will not.

“It shows a 3.32 percent increase from the previous year to this year for the property tax revenue, but that does not mean the city’s property taxes will be increasing. The rate is actually decreasing slightly. But because of property tax valuations and housing stock growth for the community has increased. The revenue will increase, but the rate the city is charging is the exact same. So this is a really great thing to see in the community, it’s what we want to see for our city to grow.”
