pleasantville-3

Pleasantville’s girls basketball team ended their season with a rough performance offensively at Earlham, losing 49-33, as heard on the KNIA3 stream.

The Trojans fought hard throughout the game, and were tied at 19 halfway through the third quarter. After tying the game, Earlham’s Cora Boyle knocked down three consecutive three-pointers and the Trojans never were able to make up ground in the fourth quarter. Rachel Harvey and Malorie McKinney tied for the team lead in scoring with nine points, and Harvey had two of Pleasantville’s three three-pointers. Coach Jeff Cook tells KNIA Sports that Earlham’s defense was the biggest difference in the loss.

We know that (Kara) Hohertz is going to block a lot of shots and put a lot of hands on shots, so they alter how they are going to shoot it. All of a sudden, you become tentative, ‘do I turn and do this or that?’ It showed by the number of shots we missed because we couldn’t shoot it the right way.”

Pleasantville finished 10-11 on the season, 6-8 in West Central Conference play, and 0-3 against Earlham.
