Marion County Public Health continues its effort to vaccinate early childhood development workers as part of Phase 1B of the state’s COVID-19 vaccination plan. Director Kim Dorn reminds residents that those in previous phases are still eligible, and can be vaccinated if they chose not to when first eligible.
“Once you’re eligible, you’re always eligible. We’re starting to hear from some medical workers who weren’t ready at first, and now they’re ready, so we’re getting them in. After that, we’re continuing to work on the 65 and over group until we get new orders from the state health department.”
Earlier this week, Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Iowa would receive 62,000 doses next week after receiving 49,000 this week, an increase of 24 percent. Specific county allocations will be announced as early as Sunday. As of 4pm Thursday, on the KNIA/KRLS poll, 32% of respondents said they had received a vaccination, 43% said they hadn’t, but planned to in the future, and 25% said they had no plans to get the vaccination.
