Two wins separate the Norwalk girls basketball team from a trip to the state tournament, and the journey continues tonight with a regional semifinal trip to #13 Creston. The Warriors snapped a three-game skid with a first round home win over Des Moines Hoover, which Norwalk controlled and dominated the entire way.

Creston is the #2 seed in the region, thus earning a first round bye. They’ll open their postseason with their first game in over a week, after falling to #1 Glenwood in the season finale. The Panthers finished 13-6 and tied for fourth place in the Hawkeye Ten Conference.

Norwalk will have to contend with Creston senior Kelsey Fields, who ranks fifth in Class 4A in points and leads all of Class 4A in rebounding. The Warriors won the lone matchup in the VarsityBound era in 2012.

Tonight’s game tips off at 7:00 p.m. at Creston High School. Jon Mohwinkle and Steve Wermerskirchen will call the action on the KNIA3 stream, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45. Tonight’s winner advances to Tuesday’s regional final against either Dallas Center-Grimes or ADM.
