Typically in February, the Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance hosts its annual membership meeting, but due to concerns over COVID-19, it was instead held virtually Friday morning. During a presentation, Mayor Don DeWaard and City Administrator Mike Nardini gave presentations about ongoing projects in the City of Pella, mainly focusing on Pella Fiber and housing developments. In a housing study completed in 2016, an additional 966 housing units were needed in Pella, and city staff have evaluated developments comprising 43% of that total heading into this spring construction season. DeWaard expects additional construction to continue in full force later this year.
